Thomas Joel Lindsey, Sr. of Lilburn, Georgia died August
20, 2003 at the age of ninety-three. He was interred at the Eternal Hills
Memorial Gardens, Snellville, Georgia.
Thomas Joel Lindsey, Sr. was born January 23, 1910 at Mineral Bluff, Georgia.
His parents were Thomas Pinkney Lindsey (1877 NC - 1970 GA) and Mary Jane Davis (1879 NC - 1944 GA). Thomas was one of eight children,
with only four of the eight reaching adulthood, 2 males and 2 females. Thomas was retired
from the U. S. Postal Service and was a former schoolteacher in Morganton,
Georgia.
Thomas Joel Lindsey, Sr. made his first and only trip to Scotland in the Fall of 2000
(August 24 – September 4, 2000) along with his three children and their
spouses. On this trip to the home of his early ancestors, he was photographed in the formal gardens of Edzell Castle and with
Lord and Lady Crawford at their home in Balcarres, Fife, Scotland.
His wife Louise Casteel Lindsey preceded Thomas Joel Lindsey, Sr. in death in
1998. His daughter, Margaret Ingram and sons Thomas Joel Lindsey, Jr., and
George Harold Lindsey survive as descendants of Thomas. Also surviving as
descendants are seven
grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
